Wishing you knew what it was like to take a ride with the greatest race car driver of all time, Dale Earnhardt? Wait no more! Carowinds, an amusement park just outside of Charlotte, NC, has announced they are building The Intimidator, which their website is describing as the “tallest, longest, fastest roller coaster in the Southeast.”
For those that don’t know, Charlotte is considered to be the home of NASCAR, with many teams based in and around the area. Dale himself was from just up the road in Kannapolis. To say the people are obsessed with him is an understatement. It seems logical this thing is in the area.
I wonder if the NASCAR Hall of Fame (being built in Uptown Charlotte) is kicking itself? I would love to see this Intimidator Roller coaster wrapping around the Hall of Fame while bankers are walking to work each day.
I really hope no one gets killed on this thing – although it would add validation to the Dale experience (even more than the planned No. 3 Chevy Monte Carlo-fashioned cars that will carry riders up, down, around and dropping 8 times). I wonder if it only turns left?
No word on whether Dale Jr. will be taking a ride on this thing. If so, you can expect him to sit in the front and finish first – something he’s not all that used to doing.
